ハリウッド映画KILL BILL出演&殺陣指導を手掛け、現在も世界でサムライスピリッツを伝え続けている
サムライソードアーティスト、島口哲朗さんにインタビューいたしました。
島口哲朗 氏は、日本の殺陣師、俳優。 1998年、殺陣師・俳優の集団として「剱伎衆かむゐ」結成。
2012年に、殺陣やチャンバラだけでなく、剣で表現をする芝居として「剱伎道」「サムライソードアーティスト」という新しいカテゴリーを作った。
会津若松市の観光大使も務める。
日本人として初めて イタリア・フィレンツェにて文化芸術勲章を受賞。エリザベス女王の御前で演舞を披露する。
ロナウジーニョとも友好関係があるなど、幅広い。
The Samurai Artist named KAMUI was formed by Tetsuro Shimaguchi in 1998. KAMUI shows performances mixed with beauty of form, acting, and martial arts.
In Japan, they have their own stages and appear on theatrical performances, movies and show events. They also teach and choreograph sword fighting scenes of movies and stages (e.g. stages at the Meijiza, stages of CHIKYU GORGEOUS, films by a Japanese director Masahiko Makino and some popular musicians PVs)
KAMUI actively collaborate with different genres artists (from Japanese traditional arts such as Kabuki, Nou, Kyogen, Wadaiko , Shakuhachi , Shamisen to foreign arts such as classical ballet dance, orchestra music, rock music, trance music and break dance.)
In oversea activities, the leader of KAMUI, Tetsuro Shimaguchi choreographed the sword fighting scenes of the movie KILL BILL vol.1, and performed as CRAZY88-MIKI.
After the success of KILL BILL, KAMUI has had highly evaluated stages internationally: The Kennedy Center (U.S.A. /in 2005), Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Scotland /in 2006 and 2008), Teatro Della Pergola and Palazzo Vecchio (Italy /in 2010), Japan Expo in Paris (France/in 2011), Blue Note Poznan Jazz Club (Poland/in 2013), Hermitage Museum (Russia/in 2015) and so on.
The leader of KAMUI, Tetsuro Shimaguchi created “THE WAY of SAMURAI” named KENGIDO, and opened dojos to teach KENGIDO in Japan, America and Europe. This activity to introduce Japanese SAMURAI culture has been reported by mass media all over the world.
